TSHC is administering H1N1 live nasal mist vaccine to anyone 2 through 49 years of age with no high risk medical conditions who are not pregnant.
All students requesting the H1N1 live nasal mist vaccine will be screened by a Registered Nurse prior to the vaccination and must be without certain medical conditions per CDC criteria.
Students in the following groups should not be given the H1N1 live nasal vaccine:
- Anyone with a severe life threatening allergy to eggs or any substance of the vaccine
- Anyone who has received any live vaccine within the past 4 weeks
- Anyone older than 50
- Anyone who is pregnant
- Anyone with asthma, metabolic disease such as diabetes, a weakened immune system, heart disease, lung disease, kidney or liver disease, anemia and other blood disorders
- Anyone on long term aspirin treatment
- Anyone in close contact with a person wi
- Anyone who has had a life threatening allergic reaction to a dose of seasonal flu vaccine or Guillain-Barre` syndrome (a severe paralytic illness)
